Fees and Funding

We do not require a referral if you’re planning to fund our therapy services yourself. Information regarding rebates, fees, and funding can be found below.

Medicare Rebates

The Chronic Disease GP Management plans or Team Care Arrangements can be arranged by a GP. These plans allow clients to receive up to five (5) Allied Health sessions per calendar year. To claim the rebate you will need to submit the receipt provided by OCC Therapy to Medicare, and they will refund an amount into your bank account. In order to use this plan at OCC Therapy, we require a copy of your referral with OCC Therapy listed as the provider of the Occupational Therapy Service. The claimable rebate for each session is currently $53.80.

The Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) can be used with therapists that are registered for this service (please check with us if your therapist is registered). A GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician can provide this plan in accordance with a particular criteria. Initially this plan allocates six (6) sessions, you may then review this plan with your doctor to access a further four (4) sessions, totalling a maximum of ten (10) per calendar year. In order to use this plan at OCC Therapy we require a copy of your referral, with OCC Therapy listed as the provider of the Occupational Therapy Service. The claimable rebate for this plan is currently is $75.95.

Private Health Funds

To claim from your Health Fund for Occupational Therapy you will need to contact your individual health fund regarding the amount that you are entitled to claim. The relevant item numbers for Occupational Therapy are:

  • 100-Initial Appointment (Assessment)
  • 200-Subsequent Appointment
  • 300-Group Therapy

If you attend an appointment at our clinic we can process your private health through our HICAPS terminal, this needs to take place on the day of service. If your appointment takes place off-site you can submit your receipt to your health fund for claiming.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

OCC Therapy is a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Agency, there are three options to manage your funds.

NDIA Managed

Sometimes referred to as agency-managed. OCC Therapy claims your payment electronically from the NDIA. You can track your spending and budget on your myplace portal.

Self Managed

We will provide you with an invoice that you then use to submit a payment request on your myplace portal.

Plan Managed

Plan managed. OCC Therapy will forward invoices for payment to the Plan Manager, contact details of the Plan Manager will need to be provided to OCC Therapy.
