The Importance Of Nature Play

Now more than ever it is important for us to find moments where we can reconnect with nature. Scheduling time and going outdoors can help us all to feel calm and grounded. Although is it not always possible to go for a walk or hike, we can find ways to connect with nature in our own backyards.

Here are some great ideas for playing outside:

  • Nature rubbings: using a sheet of paper and some crayons to take rubbings of different textures. You can use leaves, flowers, rocks, or even tree trunks!
  • Become an archaeologist for a day: burying different items in your garden or sand pit and start your own dig site.
  • Create a pet rock: find and decorate rocks in your garden using paint or chalk. Not only are these pets fun to make, but they are quiet too!
  • Create a nature mobile: collect beautiful and interesting things from your garden and tie them together to make a nature mobile.
